The self-explanatory ESD tester
13.4.2023
According to DIN EN 61340-5-1 section 5.2.1 "Verification of compliance", protective measures must be checked for effectiveness at prescribed intervals.
Personal equipment such as wrist straps and shoes are usually checked daily at testing stations before work begins and documented in a signature list.
A daily ESD personnel check can help ensure the protection of sensitive electronic equipment and components, improving the quality and reliability of products. It can also help to increase customer confidence in a company and prevent reputational damage.
Mostly, the documentation is still done with the help of pen and paper in the form of a classic list, in which employees of the ESD protection zone sign in after the measurement. This type of documentation is not only outdated, but is not a factual proof of the measurement, because such a list is not tamper-proof. For the classical signature list one wastes only paper and time.
